Skookum is seeking a results driven and adaptable Assistant Manager/ Shop Foreman. The Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful completion of Vehicle Maintenance operations by delivering a quality product to the customer on schedule.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee shop operations, which includes production, quality, HAZMAT compliance, shop safety, and addressing personnel issues.

  • Review all technician work-in-progress to ensure quality and timeliness.

  • Ensure that all forms and records are properly annotated and all required reports are submitted in a timely manner.

  • Ensure that completed contract units meet quality specifications.

  • Instruct, lead, and encourage efforts of personnel being supervised.

  • Act as Site Manager in their absence.


  • Minimum 8 years' experience in Automotive Maintenance industry. The ideal candidate should have experience of several of the following areas: automobile, motorcycle, and/or go-kart racing; metal fabrication; heavy equipment repair; automotive dealer service or independent repair shop management; tractor-trailer repair; agricultural equipment repair; fleet management; electronics and computer skills; auto parts management

  • Automotive Technology program certification preferred.

  • ASE Master Mechanic certification preferred.

  • Must be knowledgeable with all types of automotive repairs/maintenance.

  • Must be knowledgeable in all areas of shop operations, shop safety, and HAZMAT regulations.

  • Must demonstrate ability to train, instruct, and mentor new and existing employees.

  • Must demonstrate organizational and leadership skills.

  • 3-5 years Maintenance and Management experience/education preferred.

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001:2008 practices and procedures.

Physical Demands:

  • Must have ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain stamina to perform assigned duties.

  • Will be required to use repetitive motion, reach, lift, kneel, walk, and stand for several hours at a time.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work independently at a fast pace. Must be able to work up to a 40 hour work week.


  • Must be able to pass Medium Risk Public Trust background investigation prior to start.

  • Valid Driver's License is required although a CDL Class A Driver's License is preferred. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance carrier.

This position is contingent upon contract award and funding. Contract anticipated to begin September 15, 2018.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
