Material Coordinator
Where: Fort Pickett, VA (DS FASTC)
Type: Full Time
Wage: $ 21.72/hour

Skookum is seeking an organized and efficient Material Coordinator. This individual coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisor's priorities.
Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Procure required parts and materials. Maintain supporting documentation for all purchases.

  • Prepare material to fill upcoming orders and issue supplies according to job order priorities.

  • Confer with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors of material status.

  • Locate and distribute materials to specified production areas, manually or using a handcart, hand truck, or forklift.

  • Record and maintain perpetual inventory of quantity and type of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed, manually or using a computer.

  • Read production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, order priority.

  • Examine material delivered to verify it is the type specified.

  • Responsible for performing the security screening (external and internal) of all mail/packages received.


  • Minimum 2 years' experience in automotive parts management preferred.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be proficient in computer programs to include MS Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System preferred.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with managers, co-workers, customers, and vendors.

Physical Demands:

  • Must have ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain stamina to perform assigned duties.

  • Will be required to use repetitive motion, reach, lift, kneel, walk, and stand for several hours at a time.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to push and pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Must be able to work independently at a fast pace. Must be able to work up to a 40-hour work week.


  • Must be able to pass Medium Risk Public Trust background investigation prior to start.

  • Valid Driver's License is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum's insurance carrier.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain OSHA forklift certification.

This position is contingent upon contract award and funding. Position anticipated to begin October 15, 2018.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
